No, that's not me above, but Niki, my (office) dog, who provides the necessary creative breaks. I myself (born 1961) did my doctorate in molecular neurobiology at the University of Konstanz in 1992. I did my doctoral thesis on the gene regulation of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor in the department of the Nobel Prize winner in medicine, Bert Sakmann, at the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research in Heidelberg. Then I went to the USA for two and a half years (1993-1995) on a Boehringer Ingelheim scholarship to Emory University, Atlanta, Dept. of Pharmacology. Back home, I worked for about two years at the Charite in Berlin (1995-1997) and as a freelance author, editor and translator for various bio-medical publishers. From 1997 to the end of 2000 I was employed first by Georg Thieme Verlag, Stuttgart, and then by S. Karger Verlag, Freiburg, as an editor for medical books and journals.
From 2000 to 2013, I was responsible as "Project Manager Internet" for the German-language Internet presence and online marketing of Dr. Willmar Schwabe, Karlsuhe, one of the leading manufacturers of phytopharmaceuticals.
In 2014, I founded my office for health content in Kandel (near Karlsruhe) and write freelance medical texts for online and print media, targeting both lay people and medical professionals. You can find a selection of my previous and current clients at References.
